Russell and the Rabbit

In addition to the Whole Health Group, there are other furry friends living with us. There are also lots of furry 'non- friends' living around us.  As the sun sets, our nightly episode of wild kingdom starts with howling, screeching, yowling and growling going on it seems right on my front doorstep.  So prior to the setting of the sun, we gather all of our furry friends into the house, Whole Health group members and otherwise.  Russell is one of those friends.  I have a soft spot for Russell.  He was the sickly runt of a litter of barn cats that was born the last summer on our farm in Kirby. Nothing seemed to go Russell's way and yet he fought to survive. We hand fed him, washed his infected eyes, scrubbed his infested ears...and here Russell is today.  He survived and then travelled a few thousand kilometres across Canada in the middle of winter in a horse trailer...and here Russell is today.  Russell has been considering an applicaton to the Whole Health Group so the group members have been trying to get to know him better.  Their interest was quite peaked when I was calling Russell to come into the house at sundown a couple of days ago and he arrived with a baby bunny in tow.  I have been telling the group that this is an example of the compassion that Russell holds for creatures in need based upon his own struggles in life.  "That poor little baby bunny was probably stranded outside of his burrow and Russell was bringing him to us for our protection before the wild kingdom got going."  I say quite confidently.  My arguments in favour of Russell joining the group were seriously dampened today during our discussion on the naming of the baby bunny when Russell suddenly piped up and said "Call that rabbit...Stu"
